Sheriff Busy Getting Vehicles out of Ditches

An Eastern Iowa man faces charges following a one-car accident in Fayette County.

Authorities received a report just before 7pm Saturday (Feb. 3) of a car in the ditch on Cedar Road, north of Wadena. 46 year old Dennis Boone Jr. of Hiawatha, was driving south, when he lost control and drove into the ditch. Boone was not hurt, but following an investigation, he was arrested on charges of Operating While Intoxicated-1st Offense, and Driving While Suspended.

The Fayette County Sheriff responded to a van that crashed into a ditch west of Oelwein Saturday evening. 72 year old Loyce Bunn of Westgate was driving north on W-13 when she lost control. No one was injured, but the accident remains under investigation.

Authorities are also investigating an accident south of Elgin that was reported just before 5pm Sunday (Feb. 4). 35 year old Ilena Proctor of Macon, Missouri, was driving north on Cedar Road when she lost control of her 2003 Ford Mustang, and put the car in the ditch. There was $3,000 damage, and Proctor was not hurt.
