The Bremer County Sheriff and other law enforcement are investigating an alleged bomb threat at two area schools.

Shortly after 8pm last Thursday, Dec. 11th, a person walked into the Bremer County sheriff's office, reporting he had information on a possible bomb threat to the Janesville High School and the Cedar Falls High school.

The alleged event was to happen at 7:30am Tuesday, Dec. 16th.

The Janesville High school officials were notified by the Bremer county sheriff school resource officer; the Cedar Falls police department was also contacted.

After an interview with authorities, the person who initially reported the bomb threat information told authorities the name of the person who reportedly made the threats.

Bremer County investigators met with Cedar Falls police, and both alerted the Cedar Falls High School administration. The person who made the threats was questioned, and cooperated with authorities.

Investigating officers determined the bomb threats had limited credibility, but Cedar Falls and Janesville school staff were updated, and the Janesville police department was notified of the threat investigation.

As a precaution, both the Bremer County sheriff and Janesville police were at the Janesville High School the morning of December 16th; no problems were encountered.

The investigation continues; no names have been released.
