A Northeast Iowa man has been arrested after an assault in rural Fayette County.


At about 12am Friday (Oct. 5), the Fayette County Sheriff was notified of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Quail Road, just south of St. Lucas.

After looking into the mattter, deputies arrested 39 year old Edward Schmitt of West Union on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault-2nd Offense.
Schmitt was taken to the Fayette County jail, where he was held until his initial court appearance.

In an unrelated case, a Maynard man, 40 year old Aaron Rochford, was taken into custody just before 2am last Wednesday (Oct. 3) on an outstanding warrant from Chickasaw County. Rochford was wanted on a charge of 3rd Degree Burglary. He was later turned over to the Chickasaw County Sheriff.
