Johnson County authorities have now released the name of an Eastern Iowa man, killed when his pickup crashed into a bridge and landed in a creek.

The driver has been identified as 37 year old Michael Wilson of Iowa City.

Eastern Iowa authorities have temporarily closed a portion of a bridge, following the accident in which a pickup landed in a creek, south of Solon.

The incident was reported at about 6:30am Tuesday (Aug. 27), in the 4800 block of Dingleberry Road NE.

A Chevrolet Silverado pickup had gone over the side of a bridge and fell into Rapid Creek. The crash damaged a portion of the bridge.

The driver, and only occupant, Michael Wilson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dingleberry Road NE is temporarily closed at the location of the accident, until the bridge can be repaired and inspected.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, the Solon Fire Department, the Johnson County Medical Examiner, and the Iowa City Fire Department.
