The Oelwein Police Department reports that several people have been arrested in recent incidents.


At about 2am Sunday (April 1), 32 year old Timothy Gunningham of Oelwein was taken into custody on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault, after an incident in the 10 block of 4th Street NW.

Also on Sunday, around 10am, Oelwein Police were called to a Burglary in the 10 block of Hillside Drive. At about 12:30pm Sunday, officers responded to a report of a theft in the 10 block of Hillside Drive.

On Friday (March 30), 33 year old Zachary Smith of Oelwein was arrested on a Fayette County warrant, on an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault With Intent to Inflict Serious Injury. The arrest was in response to an earlier incident in the 800 block of 1st Avenue NE.

On Friday afternoon, 24 year old Justin Greene of Oelwein was taken into custody on 2 Fayette County Warrants. The first warrant was for a probation violation on an original charge of Prohibited Acts. The 2nd warrant was also for a probation violation, also on a charge of Prohibited Acts. Greene was arrested at the intersection of East Charles and 4th Avenue NE.

And Friday night, 58 year old Renee McDonald of Vinton was taken into custody in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue SE in Oelwein. He was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault.
