Oelwein Police have arrested a local man on burglary and assault charges.

Shortly after 2am Sunday (Aug. 12), following an incident in the 100 block of 5th Street NW, 30 year old Matthew Rosinek was taken into custody of Burglary-3rd Degree, and Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

At about 8pm Sunday, 23 year old Kashell Allison of Oelwein was arrested on a Black Hawk County warrant for Voluntary Absence; the original charge was Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver. The arrest was made after a call from the 800 block of 5th Street SE.

At around 1:30am Sunday, during a traffic stop in the 100 block of 1st Avenue NW, 29 year old Whitney Jo Sumner of Oelwein was cited for Driving While her License is Suspended.

Oelwein Police officers were called out to a traffic accident Saturday afternoon, at about 3:15pm, at the intersection of 2nd Street NW and North Frederick Avenue. No one was injured in the 2 vehicle accident. One of the drivers, 82 year old Mardella Deaton of Waterloo, was cited for Improper Use of Lanes.

And late Saturday night, Oelwein Police received a call, reporting a theft in the 10 block of 5th Avenue SE. It remains under investigation.
