Oelwein Police Investigate Several Thefts and a Burglary

Oelwein Police are investigating a break-in and several thefts.

The burglary was reported Saturday (Oct. 27) at about 4:30am, from the 10 block of 4th Street NW. No other details were available.

Three thefts were reported on Friday; they came from the 100 block of 1st Avenue SE, the 800 block of 1st Avenue SW, and the 200 block of 8th Avenue SE.

The Oelwein Police Department reports that a Fairbank man was arrested last Wednesday (Oct. 24) on a theft charge. The arrest followed an incident that happened in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE. 61 year old Steven Hovey was charged with Theft-5th Degree.

Oelwein Police have arrested a Virginia man following a late Sunday night (Oct. 28) incident.
Officers were called out at about 11pm Sunday, to a disturbance in the 1 block of 6th Street NE.
Following an investigation, 22 year old Dustin Deans of Powhatten, Virginia, was taken into custody on a charge of Criminal Mischief-4th Degree.

And an Oelwein woman was cited Friday for Failure to Abate Property as ordered. 50 year old Sandra Halstead was cited concerning property in the 900 block of 1st Avenue NE.
