An Oelwein man is jailed after leading authorities on a chase from Oelwein to Independence.

The incident happened early on Sunday, June 17th; Oelwein Police pursued a vehicle driven by 28 year old Adam Nichols, who refused to pull over. The chase went south to Independence, where Nichols was stopped. He was taken into custody shortly after 2:30am, on a charge of Eluding While Under the Influence. The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Independence Police, Fayette County Sheriff, and Buchanan County Sheriff.

Oelwein Police also report the arrest of 70 year old Gerald Greathead of Oelwein, on a Fayette County Warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Public Intoxication. The arrest was made Sunday.

21 year old Tywan Robinson of Waterloo was taken into custody by Oelwein Police on Sunday, on a Black Hawk County warrant for a Probation Violation; the original charge was 2 counts of Forgery.

42 year old Donald Moore of Macon, Georgia was arrested in Oelwein, on a Fayette County warrant for Contempt of Court, on an original charge of Possession of Marijuana.

And Friday afternoon, 30 year old Troy Miller of Oelwein was taken into custody on 3 Fayette County warrants: Probation Violations for Stalking and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, and Burglary 3rd Degree.

Oelwein Police are also investigating several thefts. They were reported Saturday night in the 300 block of 4th Avenue SE, Sunday morning in the 500 block of 3rd Avenue SE, and Sunday morning in the 500 block of 4th Avenue SE.
