Oelwein Losing a Major Business in a Few Months

The city of Oelwein is losing another business.

Sears Headquarters, the owner of Kmart, is announcing that the Kmart store on the south side of Oelwein, will be shuttering it's doors in a few months.

The associates in the store in Oelwein, as well as the Kmart on Merle Hay Road in Des Moines, were informed that the business will be closing in mid-October.

Those employees this affects, will be given severance pay and offered employment at other Kmart or Sears stores in the area.

The stores will begin liquidation sales before the end of the month, which will give consumers about 3 months to shop.
