The Upper Iowa football team is hoping history repeats itself a third time. The Peacocks play their final road game of the season when they face Wayne State (Neb.) on Saturday (Nov. 7, 2015).

This is the third year in a row that Upper Iowa (5-4 overall, 2-3 NSIC South) has faced the Wildcats needing a victory to secure a winning season. Upper Iowa won the previous two meetings.

If victorious again, the Peacocks would claim their third-straight winning season for the first time in a half century. Upper Iowa last posted three-consecutive plus-.500 seasons in 1962-64. In fact, UIU had winning seasons in four straight years from 1961-64 with a cumulative record of 26 wins and 10 losses.

The potential for a winning campaign in 2015 likely rides on Saturday's final score. Next week, the Peacocks end their season with a home game against eight-ranked Sioux Falls.

The last time Upper Iowa visited Wayne State in 2013, the Peacocks rallied from a 13-0 deficit to win 24-21. Last year, the Peacocks scored 29 second quarter points during a 58-29 victory over the Wildcats in Fayette.

Wayne State leads the all-time series, 5-4. Upper Iowa won the first meeting between the teams, 24-14, in 2006, claiming its first-ever NCAA Division II and Northern Sun Conference victory.

The Wildcats (4-5 overall, 1-4 NSIC South) opened the 2015 season with a 3-1 record against the NSIC North, but injuries plagued the team throughout their NSIC South Division schedule.

Saturday marks the final home game of the season for Wayne State. The Wildcats are hosting their 27th annual Egg Bowl, a game that raises about $10,000 each year for Wayne State's Student Athlete Scholarship Fund. A commemorative game ball is presented to a Most Valuable Player from each team at the end of the game as voted on by members of the media covering the contest.

The Wildcats are 16-10 all-time in Egg Bowl games, but they've dropped four straight since upsetting No. 7 Augustana (S.D.), 26-14, in 2010.

Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne, Neb.

Upper Iowa football can be heard throughout the 2015 season on AM-950 KOEL with play-by-play announcer Joe Stasi, who's entering his 13th season as the "Voice of the Peacocks."
