DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Prosecutors are fighting a request by a man to move his upcoming murder trial out of Dubuque County.

An attorney for 27-year-old Eddie Hicks argues in a motion for change of venue that extensive media coverage will make in difficult to pick a fair jury in Dubuque County. The motion seeks that the trial be moved out of the country or that jurors be brought in from another county.

Assistant Dubuque County Attorney Brigit Barnes has filed a resistance to the motion. She says heavy media coverage by itself does not entitle a change of venue.

Hicks has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the June 27 death of his girlfriend, 21-year-old Kahdyesha Lemon. Lemon was found with more than 20 stab wounds.
