A Charles City woman, charged in a fatal motorcycle accident earlier this year, has pleaded not guilty.

The accident happened May 21st on Hiway 18, east of Nora Springs. A vehicle driven by 23 year old Stephanie Mercer rear-ended a motorcycle that had slowed to make a turn onto a county road.

The motorcyclist, 66 year old David Crowe, was thrown from the cycle, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Mercer was not injured. She was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Mercer has now pleaded not-guilty to the charge in Floyd County District Court; a trial date has not yet been set.
