NE Iowa Woman Charged with Making False Report
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa woman faces false report charges in connection with claims that a man with a knife twice broke into her home.
58-year-old Stephanie Settle, of Asbury, was arrested Thursday after turning herself in to authorities at the Dubuque County Jail. She is charged with two counts of filing a false report.
An attorney for Settle was unavailable to comment on her behalf.
The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says Settle told police a man armed with a knife broke into her home in both January and March attacked her. She reported the man left with $15,000-worth of jewelry and coins the first time and assaulted her the second.
The sheriff's office says investigation revealed inconsistencies in Settle's stories, prompting the issuance of two arrest warrants.
