A Northeast Iowa man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Fayette County.

After completing an investigation, the Fayette County Sheriff took 58 year old James Miller of Volga into custody Wednesday, on charges of sexual abuse in the third degree, assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, and harassment in the third degree.

The investigation revealed that Miller allegedly assaulted a female several times in the Elgin area.

Miller was arrested at his home in Volga without further incident and taken to the Fayette County jail. He was scheduled to make a court appearance today (Friday).

If convicted of the charges, Miller faces up to 23 years in prison and would have to be put on the state sex offender registry.

Miller is also accused of similar crimes in the Volga area; the Clayton County Sheriff will look into the alleged assault in their jurisdiction.
