A Northeast Iowa business that supplies uncooked pizzas to area businesses, as well as organizations that sell them for fundraising events, has issued a voluntary recall.

Red Heart Pizza, based in West Union, announced the recall of their frozen meat pizzas Thursday in a news release, from the Iowa Department of Agriculture.

The company is recalling the uncooked, frozen, meat-topped pizzas, because Red Heart does not have a license or grant of inspection, by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship's Meat and Poultry Inspection Bureau.

The company DOES have a license with the Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals.

Red Heart supplies their pizzas to four Northeast Iowa Businesses: Meatzys in Fayette, Pronto Market in Elkader, Shell Express in West Union, and Quillin's Quality Foods in West Union.

They also produce pizzas for area organizations and groups that sell them for fundraising activities.

Frozen Red Heart pizzas that have meat toppings should be returned to Red Heart Pizza at 702 West Bradford Street in West Union.

There have been no reported illnesses linked to the uncooked meat pizzas.
