Motorcycle Rear-Ends Truck, Seriously Injures Driver

An eastern Iowa motorcyclist is hospitalized, after running into the back of a mid-size truck this morning(Tuesday, May 29).

At about 7:30am, the Linn County Sheriff was alerted of the accident, that happened on Highway 13, just north of Mount Vernon Road.

The motorcycle, driven by 29 year old Darren Cook of Iowa City, rear-ended a mid-size truck, when the truck slowed to stop for a red light.

Cook, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to University Hospitals to be treated for possible serious injuries. The truck driver, 38 year old Jason Blakeman of Bernard, was not hurt.

Cook is being cited for following too close.
