Morrissey Pleads Guilty to Meth Charges

The mother of one of two eastern Iowa girls who disappeared from Evansdale and later found dead, has pleaded guilty to meth charges in Fayette County.

On Wednesday, Misty June Marie Morrissey submitted the guilty pleas to two counts of delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), in Fayette County District court in West Union.

The 37 year old Morrissey was then sentenced to no more than 10 years on each count; the sentences will run concurrently, and she must serve at least one third of the prison sentence before she can be eligible for parole.

Morrissey and another suspect were arrested by the Fayette County sheriff in November of last year, after a long investigation. She had been living at a West Union residence.

Morrissey is the mother of ten year old Lyric Cook-Morrissey; she, along with her cousin, 8 year old Elizabeth Collins, were kidnapped in july of 2012 while riding their bicycles in Evansdale. Both were later found dead, miles away in a wooded area. No one has yet been charged in connection with their murders.
