Lundry & Buchholz Win Before Rain Moves in at Independence [Videos]

The Independence Motor Speedway saw 114 cars check in for Iowa Donor Night on August 8, 2015. While the main events were underway, Mother Nature rolled in and ended the night early. That sets up ten feature events to be run during next week's racing program.

Two exciting A-Mains were run before a steady rain began to fall on the three-eighths mile speedplant. The Big Daddy Chassis IMCA Hobby Stock and Tenacity Graphics IMCA Sport Mod main events were completed. The remaining four features will start next week's program, and that includes the running of the Dale Miller Memorial Modified Main.

It was Vince Buchholz that weathered the on-track storm of activity during the Big Daddy Chassis IMCA Hobby Stock A-Main. Tyler Ollendiecck tried to apply pressure late, but Buchholz held on for the win. Ollendiecck finished second followed by Shawn Kuenen, Justin Litchy, and Benji Irvine.

IMCA HOBBY STOCK A-MAIN:

A “Head Hunter Challenge” was offered for any Tenacity Graphics IMCA SportMod driver who could put an end to Tony Olson's winning streak. Kyle Olson put his machine at the top of the score sheets early. Lucas Lundry worked the bottom line, and he pushed his ride to the front just past the halfway point.

Tony Olson charged his way through the field, and tried everything he could to work past Lundry during the final four laps. It was Lundry that came to the checkered flag first and scored the $100 Head Hunter Challenge bonus. Tony Olson finished a close second. Alex Zwanzinger, Matt McCahen, and Andy Edwards rounded out the top five.

NEXT WEEK: On August 15, the night of racing will begin with the four make-up feature events which includes the Dale Miller Memorial Modified Main paying $1,000 to the winner. The starting field has already be set for all four classes. Then the regular night of racing will begin. Gates open at 4:30 PM, hot laps are slated for 6:30 PM, and the racing action will follow.
