A Northeast Iowa man is in jail, accused of threatening to kill his father.

At about 1pm Monday (Oct. 2), the Fayette County Sheriff received a 911 call from a woman, who told authorities that she received a text message from her husband, which stated that his son was going to kill him.

The woman explained that her husband and his son were in a vehicle east of Wadena, on an isolated drive near the city sewer plant.

As deputies responded, more 911 texts came in to authorities from the victim. The man was apparently able to get away from his son, after his son tried to strangle him.

When officers arrived, they immediately arrested 36 year old Lonnie Davis Jr. of Clermont.

An investigation determined that Davis and his father were in a vehicle when an argument began, and quickly escalated. Davis allegedly told his father that he was going to kill him and dump his body in the water.

The father was able to record the attack on an electronic device, which aided authorities in the investigation.

Davis Jr. was taken into custody on a charge of Attempt to Commit Murder. A conviction could carry a sentence of up to 25 years in prison.
