Four boys high school basketball teams from the Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa are ranked in this week’s Associated Press poll, released today (Monday, January 26, 2015).

A shake-up in the Class-2A rankings has moved Aplington-Parkersburg to the top of the poll for the first time this season. The Falcons (15-0) jumped two positions into the No. 1 spot, following losses by former No.1 IKM-Manning and No. 2 Western Christian of Hull last week. The shake-up moved New Hampton (15-1) up to No. 3.

Aplington-Parkersburg is leading the North Iowa Cedar League (NICL) East Division. The NICL's West Division leader is Gladbrook-Reinbeck (14-0), which was voted No. 1 in Class-1A for the second week in row.

Back-to-back losses by Waverly-Shell Rock during the past week cost the Go-Hawks their No. 1 ranking in Class-3A. Last Monday, Waverly-Shell rock was the unanimous choice to lead the poll, but road setbacks at New Hampton on Friday and Western Dubuque of Epworth on Saturday dropped the Go-Hawks to No. 5 in this week's survey.

Four other area teams are close to cracking the top 10. Dike-New Hartford (Class-2A), Janesville (1A), West Central of Maynard (1A) and Jesup (1A) are all receiving votes for the poll.
