An Independence couple has been arrested for allegedly keeping a marijuana growing operation in their home, which is also occupied by their 2 children.

David Stick and his wife, Carrie Stick, were arrested last Friday (Dec. 7), when Independence Police were called to their home at 813 6th Street NE, on a tip of suspected drug activity, in the presence of two minor children.

During the investigation, David Stick talked with police and admitted to the drug activity in the presence of their children in the house.

Stick consented to a search of his house, where officers found a grow tent: housing a dozen marijuana plants, various pre-packaged bags of marijuana, a bag of mushrooms, and over $6,500 in cash located near the grow operation.

Both David and Carrie Stick are being charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, two counts of Child Endangerment, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Drug Tax Stamp Violation. David was also charged with possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms.

The Independence Police Department was assisted by the Buchanan County Sheriff, and Iowa Department of Human Services.
