Hit and Run Investigated in Oelwein

The Oelwein Police Department is investigating a hit and run incident.

It happened Friday afternoon; Oelwein police were called out just before 3:30pm to a parking lot in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE. A car owned by 77 year old Elaine Walker of Oelwein, was struck while it was parked; the suspect vehicle then left the scene. There was no information on the amount of damages.

Oelwein police have cited a Waterloo motorist in a weekend traffic stop. Just before 1am Sunday, officers pulled over a car in the 1,000 block of North Frederick. Following an investigation, the driver, 44 year old Carrie Youngblut, was charged with driving while her license is suspended.
