Grundy Center Schools Put On Temporary Lockdown

An online threat forced Grundy Center Schools to be placed under a lockdown for more than two hours on Thursday (April 6, 2017).

According to Superintendent Jerry Schutz, students discovered the threat on social media and alerted district officials. The secondary building was then placed under a precautionary lock down around 10 a.m.

Grundy Center police were immediately contacted and the person who allegedly made the post was taken into custody, the superintendent said.

According to Schutz, the threat was directed at the secondary building, which houses 5th- through 12th-grade students. He emphasized that students and faculty were never in danger at any time.

Schutz said the lockdown was lifted at 12:15 p.m. after the individual was apprehended.
