New Garth Brooks Song ‘8teen’ Will Challenge Longtime Fans
“No one in the world is going to know what it’s about,” Brooks tells Taste of Country, “but people that know us, know our history and have known us for 30 years are gonna start digging in and finding it’s got a lot of hidden jewels in it.”
“Every word is some kind of hidden trick treasure that goes back to something else that they get to dig in and find,” he adds.
The new CMA Entertainer of the Year says “8teen” is this album’s “Mom,” a song that is very personal to him. It’s a comparison to the tear-jerking song from his Man Against Machine album.
Find “8teen” on Gunslinger when it drops Nov. 25. The album also includes a duet with Trisha Yearwood, a feel-good song called “Weekend” and one called “Cowboys and Friends” that Brooks confirms is the final song on the album. That’s a special slot in the track listing where he puts his favorite songs.
Earlier this month Brooks was named the CMA Entertainer of the Year for a record fifth time. He’s also releasing a Christmas album with Yearwood this month that features four duets together.
