Four occupants in a minivan were injured when their vehicle collided with a semi east of Waterloo Wednesday morning (April 4, 2018).

The crash occurred at the intersection of Dubuque and Elk Run Roads near Elk Run Heights around 6:15 AM.

Waterloo Fire Rescue Chief Pat Treloar said two ambulances took the four injured people to a Waterloo hospital for treatment. He did not release the victims' names or the extent of their injuries.

According to Treloar, the pavement was slick at the time of the crash and the icy surface may have been a factor.

"Road conditions were absolutely horrible," Treloar said.

Treloar confirmed that the four people hurt were all inside the minivan. The semi driver escaped injury.
