Moderate flooding is expected along the Cedar River in Cedar Falls this week.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Cedar from the West Fork Cedar River downsteam to the Cedar Falls-Waterloo city limits. The warning is in effect through Saturday evening (April 21, 2018).

Early Monday, the river level at Cedar Falls was nearing its 88-foot flood stage. At 3 AM, the river had risen to 87.8 feet, or .2 feet below flood stage.

The NWS expects the river to rise to about 2.5 feet above its flood stage Tuesday morning, reaching a level of 90.5 feet before cresting. The Cedar should fall below flood stage again Saturday evening.
