Fayette Sheriff Makes Arrests for OWI, Theft, and More

A Northeast Iowa man has been arrested, after putting his vehicle in the ditch.

Shortly after 10:30pm Wednesday (June 20), the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a car in the ditch on Echo Valley Road, a mile west of Elgin. 49 year old Steven Martin of Randalia drove into the south ditch; no one was injured. Following an investigation, Martin was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated-2nd Offense and Failure to Maintain Control.

An Oelwein woman, 37 year old Heather Brodie, was taken into custody Wednesday evening, on a Fayette County warrant for failure to appear; the original charge was Driving While Suspended.

39 year old Daniel Richter of Oelwein was arrested Wednesday afternoon for a Fayette County warrant for Theft in the Fifth Degree; the warrant was issued after it was discovered Richter had allegedly stolen 2 bottles of liquor from 6 Corners Gas and Grub in Arlington.

On Friday evening, the sheriff got a report of a disturbance in the 4,000 block of "X" Avenue; 35 year old Brandon Forcier of Fairbank waas arrested for Violation of a Domestic Abuse No-contact Order.

And the Fayette County Sheriff responded to an accident involving a deer Tuesday night north of Clermont; 47 year old Jeffrey Blue of West Union was driving east on Harding Road, when a deer ran out onto the road. No one was hurt but there was $5,000 in damage to Blue's 2008 BMW.
