A Northeast Iowa business has been cited for selling tobacco to a minor, after Fayette County authorities conducted a tobacco compliance check.

The Fayette County Sheriff sent a minor into the Tico Market in Elgin on Wednesday (Nov. 14) to determine if they would sell tobacco products to minors.

The clerk who sold the minor the tobacco, Lisa Labree, was found to be non-compliant with Iowa's tobacco laws, by selling the products to a minor.

Labree was issued a citation for the violation. If convicted of the charges, businesses that violate that law could face administrative sanctions by the State of Iowa.
