Just 2 days after Iowa's caucuses, one elected Northeast Iowa official has announced his intention to run for re-election.

Fayette County Sheriff Marty Fisher announced today (Wednesday) that he will be running for his fifth term as county sheriff.

In making his announcement, Fisher points out that his department has had a big impact on crime, including nearly 800 arrests over the past year, a record number of inmates, 20,000 calls answered by the dispatch, and the civil office is working non-stop with weapons permits, paper service and committals.

The general election will take place November 8th.
