It was a very low turnout, on the average, in Tuesday's municipal elections in Northeast Iowa

.
In Fayette County:

In Oelwein, only 8.25% of the voters came to the polls, a total of 288 people out of 3,489 registered voters.

The lack of races was probably one the reasons for a low turnout.

For Oelwein Mayor, Peggy Sherrets was re-elected with 248 votes.
Matthew Derifield, D. Warren Fisk, and Renee Cantrell won Oelwein council seats.

There were some council races around the county; but as far as Mayoral races, Donald Kelly defeated Jeremy Eickhoff in Hawkeye.

St. Lucas incumbent mayor James Rausch beat write-in Eric Dietzenbach.

And in Westgate, mayor Gene Rubendall defeated a challenge from Don Bushaw.

A Hotel/Motel Public Measure in West Union was approved, 184 "yes" votes, to 34 "no" votes.
