Elderly Woman Dies in SUV/Semi Accident in Benton County

The Iowa State Patrol reports that a Cedar Rapids woman died in a traffic accident late Friday afternoon (April 20).

The accident happened at the intersection of westbound Highway 30 and 32nd Avenue, west of Cedar Rapids in Benton County.

An SUV driven by 90 year old Arlene Erusha of Cedar Rapids, attempted to cross the highway, and was struck by a semi driven by 69 year old William Butterfield of Tama.

Erusha was pronounced dead at the scene; Butterfield was taken to a hospital for treatment. His semi ended up in the ditch.

The accident remains under investigation.
