Authorities have now released the name of an eastern Iowa man, who died in a one-vehicle accident early Thursday (Oct. 12).


The accident occurred shortly before 6am on Mt. Vernon Road, just northwest of Mount Vernon.

According to the Linn County Sheriff, a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 75 year old William Zahn of Cedar Rapids, went into the ditch, hit a residential driveway, then rolled multiple times, coming to rest in a nearby bean field.

Zahn was the only occupant of the vehicle; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
