Eastern Iowa Accident Kills One, Injures Another

The Iowa State Patrol is not yet releasing the names in a deadly eastern Iowa accident from Sunday (Oct. 8) afternoon.

It happened just before 12:30pm Sunday, four miles south of Bellevue on Iowa Highway 52.

According to the State Patrol, for some unknown reason, the driver a jeep SUV, ran off the road and collided with a tree.

The front seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.

Names are being withheld until family members can be notified.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Iowa DNR, and Bellevue Police and Fire Departments.
