A Waterloo woman is being charged with causing an accident involving a Black Hawk County Sheriff's vehicle.


The accident occurred Friday (Oct. 19) morning, shortly after 9:30am, at the intersection of West 5th and Washington Streets in Waterloo.

A Sport Utility Vehicle driven by 46 year old Sonja Gray, failed to stop at a red light, colliding with a Black Hawk County Sheriff's SUV, driven by 57 year old Deputy Joe Stafford.

Stafford was enroute to another emergency when the two vehicles crashed, and the sheriff's vehicle had it's emergency lights and siren on.

Gray and her passenger, 27 year old Bianca Robinson, were taken to Unity Point Allen Hospital in Waterloo, to be treated for minor injuries. Deputy Stafford was not hurt.

Gray was charged with failing to stop at a red light.
