Driver Charged After Sheriff Receives Test Results

Fayette County authorities have now filed charges against a motorist, involved in a one-vehicle rollover from last month.

The accident happened at about 9pm on Thursday, July 21st, southeast of the city of Fayette. 31 year old Cody Schmidtke of Fayette, was driving west on Kornhill Road, when he lost control of his vehicle.

The pickup went into a ditch, where it rolled over, coming to rest on it's top.
Schmidtke had to be extricated from the wreckage by the Jaws of Life; he was air-cared to Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

After the Fayette County Sheriff received the test results from the state Crime Lab,

Schmidtke was charged with Operating While Intoxicated, first offense.
