Death at a SW Wisconsin Campground Under Investigation

Authorities are investigating an incident at a Southwest Wisconsin campground, that resulted in the death of an area man.

It happened Sunday evening at Whitetail Bluff Campgound in Cassville.

47 year old Mike Hanfeld from Potosi, Wisconsin was jumping on a trampoline, mounted on an inflatable pad, floating in a pond.

Hanfeld apparently fell backward, and got caught in the tethering straps between the pad and the trampoline.

People at the campground pulled him out of the water and performed CPR.

Hanfeld was initially taken to the Lancaster hospital, then airlifted to University Hospitals in Madison, where he died.

The accident is under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff's Department.
