One person has died in an accident involving 2 motorcycles and a semi.


The Iowa State Patrol was called out to the accident scene shortly after 5:30pm Wednesday (Aug. 8), at mile marker 250 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80, in Johnson County.

No names have been released yet.

According to the Patrol, 2 Harley Davidson motorcycles were traveling together, when they slowed for a previous accident scene. A semi following the motorcycles was not able to stop in time, striking the rear of both bikes.

All three vehicles ended up in the ditch.

One of the motorcycle operators was killed, while the other was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

The accident remains under investigation.
