Waterloo Black Hawks skaters Alex Limoges and Jake Ryczek were recognized by the United States Hockey League. Both landed on the ‘Players of the Week’ list for the 25th week of the 2016/17 season.

Alex Limoges is the co-CCM Forward of the Week with Blake Lizotte of the Fargo Force. Since joining the team mid season from the Tri-City Storm, Limoges has fit in well with the Black Hawks game plan. This past weekend he played a lead role on the forward line scoring five points in two games.

On Friday in Dubuque, Limoges had two assists helping lift the Black Hawks to a 5-3 win over the Fighting Saints. The Winchester, VA native stepped up for three points (2G, 1A) on Saturday night during Waterloo’s 6-1 win against the Sioux City Musketeers.

Since arriving in Waterloo, Ligmoes has played in 11 games. During that time, he has scored 16 points (5G, 11A). That makes 47 points (18G, 29A, 49 games) for the year.

Jake Ryczek shares the co-CCM Defenseman of the Week title with Mario Ferraro of the Des Moines Buccaneers. Ryczek currently leads the USHL with a +30 plus/minus ranking, and he was a +3 and scored three points this past weekend.

While in Dubuque Friday, the Ludlow, MA native had one assist in the win. Ryczek scored one goal and and an assist during Saturday’s contest in Waterloo.

The 2nd round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks (2016 draft) currently sits seventh overall among defensivemen in the USHL this season with 29 points (8G, 21A). This marks the third time this season that he has been awarded Defenseman of the Week honor.

This Friday (Mar. 17), the Black Hawks travel to Madison for a Saint Patrick’s Day tilt against the Capitals. Our hometown Hawks return to Young Arena for an important game in the teams quest for the USHL Anderson Cup. The Chicago Steel, who holds the second place in the Anderson Cup chase comes to ‘Party Town’. Waterloo is currently third in the award given to the team with the best regular season record.
