The Waterloo Bucks will be represented by three players at the 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game later this month, league officials announced on Friday (July 7, 2017).

Brandon Downey, Kyle Leahy and Jay Schuyler were among the 27 players selected for the North Division team. The 2017 NWL All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 18 at 7:05 p.m. at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wis.

Downey, a right-handed pitcher from St. Louis, is tied for 2nd in saves in the North Division with six. The Maryville University junior is 0-1 with a 1.56 earned run average (ERA). He has 15 strikeouts in 12 games.

This is Downey’s second consecutive trip to the NWL All-Star Game.

Leahy, a right-handed pitcher from Boulder, Colo., leads the NWL in complete games with two and is tied for the league-lead in shutouts with one. The Colorado Mesa University sophomore owns a 4-0 record with 20 strikeouts and a 1.21 ERA, which is second best among the North Division's qualifying pitchers.

Schuyler, a catcher from the University of San Diego, is hitting .266 with 3 home runs, 24 RBI, and 11 stolen bases this season for the Bucks.

A native of Laguna Niguel, Calif., the sophomore has played in all 38 games this season, which is tied for the league-lead.
