The Starmont Stars were eliminated from the 2017 Iowa High School Volleyball State Tournament after losing to Holy Trinity, 3-0.

Holy Trinity's Emily Box and Eryn Anderson were on a mission as the two combined for 36 kills across the three-set match and stymied Starmont's game plan. Some long volleys and crazy bounces that went Holy Trinity's way didn't help Starmont's spirit throughout the first game as they would lose 25-17.

The second set was a much close contest, but once again the luck of the bouncing ball fell in Holy Trinity's favor as the Stars would see the win fade away late losing 25-21.

Starmont trailed early in the third set, 9-5, while the momentum continued to favor Holy Trinity. Then, Starmont won a long volley and lady luck seemed to finally smile on the Stars as they fought back to only trail 17-14. Once Holy Trinity crested to 20-point mark, however, the Crusaders recaptured their momentum and took the win, 25-17.

Starmont's Macy Mommer led the team with 15 figs and 9 kills. Hayley Goedken also scored 15 digs and added 8 kills. Regan Janssen tallied 28 assists.

2017 was only Starmont's second trip in as many years to the state tournament. The Stars ended their season with a 30-6 record.
