Cedar Rapids RoughRider goaltender Drew DeRidder stopped all 23 Waterloo Black Hawks shots Saturday at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena during a 3-0 decision.

The only goal in the first 40 minutes came on a rush by Justin Cole at 5:34 of the second. Cole steered up the right wing and battled through a check toward the net. When he flipped the puck toward the cage, it deflected and eluded Robbie Beydoun.

Beydoun’s lunging attempt to move the puck away from the front of the net led to a RoughRiders insurance goal 2:36 into the third. The effort kept the puck away from Jason Polin, but left Dalton Messina with net to aim at. Polin scored later from center ice into an empty net with 1:32 left to go.

Saturday’s game was the first during a stretch in which eight of ten Hawks contests will be on the road. Next Friday and Saturday, Waterloo visits the Tri-City Storm. The next game at Young Arena will be December 9th versus the Sioux City Musketeers.
