Panthers Sign High School Player From Minneapolis

The UNI men's basketball team has added a guard to its recruiting class this year.

Head Coach Ben Jacobson has announced the signing of Tywhon Pickford to a National Letter of Intent for the 2017-18 season.

Pickford comes from Minneapolis, where he helped lead Maple Grove High School to a 28-4 record and a fourth-place finish in the 2017 Minnesota Class AAAA state state tournament last month. He scored 23 points in both the state semifinal and third-place contests.

A varsity starter since ninth grade, Pickford averaged nearly 21 points and more than eight rebounds per game as a senior this past season. He earned first-team all-conference honors and finished among the top 10 in the voting for Minnesota's Mr. Basketball in 2017.
