Adam McGinnis had a big night at the plate for the Waterloo Bucks. The junior from Western Illinois hit a pair of clutch home runs to power the locals to a 9-5, 10-inning victory over the Willmar Stingers on the road Friday night (June 24, 2016).

McGinnis homered with two outs in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game at 5-5, then belted a 10th-inning grand slam to push the Bucks past the Stingers in the series finale at Willmar's Bill Taunton Stadium. The two home runs gives McGinnis a team-leading five on the season and increases his Northwoods League-leading RBI total to 28.

Taylor Boyd led off the 10th with a double down the right field line before Zach Weatherford and Tyler Curtis drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Then, with a 1-1 count, McGinnis took Pearson McMahan (0-1) deep to left-center to secure the win and series sweep. McGinnis finished the night 3-for-6 with six RBI and two runs scored.

Waterloo (16-7) jumped on Willmar early, tallying a first-inning run. Boyd led off the frame with a single to left field and later scored when Luke Stratman drew a bases-loaded walk. Stratman's free pass followed earlier walks by Curtis and Zack Soria in the inning.

The Bucks lost their lead when Willmar (11-13) scored three runs in the fourth inning, then deadlocked the game with a pair of runs in the fifth. Soria started the frame with an infield single before back-to-back walks by Stratman and Alex Boxwell loaded the bases. Daniel Perry then cut the Stingers' lead to one with a sacrifice fly to center. Robert Neustrom tied the game at 3-3 with a two-out, RBI single up the middle.

Willmar regained the lead with two runs in the sixth, setting the stage for McGinnis' heroics in the eighth and 10th innings.

The Bucks also had a solid night defensively. They turned a season-high five double plays on the night, all inning-ending.

Derek Hendrixson (3-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. The right-hander walked one and struck out one in his second straight appearance.

UP NEXT: The Bucks look to extend their winning streak to three on Saturday (June 25), when they open a two-game series at Duluth.
