Two Cresco residents have been arrested for trying to cash bad checks at Fayette County banks.


On Wednesday (Feb. 7), the Fayette County Sheriff's office arrested 18 year old Billie Jean Hageman and 43 year old Charles William Evans, both of Cresco, on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Theft in the 3rd Degree.

According to authorities, Hageman and Evans tried to cash checks that had been cancelled, at a local bank. However, the banks would not complete the transaction.

Hageman and Evans were taken to the Fayette County jail and held on $2,000 cash bond.

Evans bonded out of custody, but Hageman is still in jail.
