The Oelwein City Council will be making an appointment tonight, to fill a vacancy.

On the agenda of tonight's (Monday's) regular meeting, the Oelwein City Council will consider a resolution to fill the vacancy of Third Ward Councilperson, by appointment.

The oath of office will then be given to Lou Ann Milks. Milks is a local business owner, and has been a long-time area resident.

Milks will be filling the vacancy left by Jim Petersen, who resigned because of health concerns. The council held a special session last Monday to accept Petersen's resignation.

Oelwein residents may still petition for a special election.
