Authorities are looking for the cause of a house fire in Decorah.


Firefighters were called out shortly after 3:30pm Tuesday (March 6) when they received a 911 call, reporting smoke at a residence at 502 John Street in Decorah.

When firecrews arrived, they found a large amount of smoke coming from the roof of the home.

The blaze was extinguished with help from the Calmar Fire Department.

No injuries were reported, but the home sustained considerable damage. The name of the owner was not released.

The origin of fire remains under investigation.
