The Floyd County sheriff is investigating a one-vehicle rollover that happened over the weekend near Nashua, in which the driver could not be found for nearly 5 hours.

Shortly after 3am Sunday, the Floyd county sheriff was notified of a single vehicle rollover on county road B-60, 2 miles west of Nashua. A truck had rolled multiple times, ending up on the roadway. However, authorities could not find the driver.
Officers went to the owner's residence, but the family said he was not home.

Based on the amount of damage in the accident, as well as the weather and evidence at the scene, authorities conducted a more extensive search, which included about 50 personnel from Floyd County Emergency Management, Floyd County search and rescue, Iowa State Patrol, and 2 Iowa State Patrol Airplanes.

The driver, identified as 25 year old John Burkhardt of Greene, was finally located at his home, at about 8am, almost 5 hours after the accident was discovered.

Burkhardt apparently walked 6 miles to a neighbor's home, and stayed there until he called for a ride home. He was not injured, and the only one in the vehicle, which was totaled.

The investigation continues, and charges are pending.
