The search for a Dubuque man who fell into the Mississippi River, is apparently over, with the discovery of a body.

Jim Wagner, an employee with Canadian National Railway, fell off the train bridge that spans the river between Dubuque and East Dubuque, Illinois. The accident happened early Monday morning.

Rescue workers searched the Mississippi River from Dubuque, down to Bellevue; it turned into a recovery effort on Wednesday when he could not be found.

According to the Dubuque County Sheriff, barge workers spotted a body in the river early today (Friday, July 7), near the Mines of Spain recreation area, just south of Dubuque.

A number of emergency workers helped in recovering the body, which was taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy. Authorities have reportedly identified the body, however the person's identity will not be officially released until the family can be contacted.

The accident remains under investigation by railroad officials.
