High water is masking one problem on the Mississippi River near McGregor: it's an underwater hazard that has been causing damage to water craft.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is warning boaters about the hazard, that has disabled several boats this season.

The unknown hazard, which cannot be seen due to the higher river levels, is located near the confluence of the main and east channels, which is just south of McGregor, but on the Wisconsin side. Little is known about the object, but they do know it's located near a rock bank, and east of the center of the channel, close to Bergman Island.

Authorities warn all boaters to use caution, until the hazard has either been removed, or properly marked.

Always wear life jackets, and be alert for debris in the water.
