The Northeast Iowa farmer famous for his national television appearances, is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon for a hearing on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

37 year old Chris Soules of Arlington was the driver of a truck that ran into the back of a tractor driven by rural Aurora farmer Kenneth Mosher. The 66 year old Mosher was pronounced dead at the scene of that April 2017 accident in rural Buchanan County.

Soules stayed at the scene and gave aid, but left before law enforcement arrived. He is being charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

His attorneys had been in plea discussions with the prosecution, and at one time asked for a change of venue for the trial. However, Soules retracted that motion.

Soules, who became a reality TV star on the ABC programs "The Bachelor" and "Dancing with the Stars", is scheduled for his hearing in Buchanan County District Court in Independence today, at 2:30pm.
